African American Peace Officers Association

AAPOA answered the request of the Los Angeles, California communities for a police association to address police brutality through police reform. The City Council of Los Angeles, California, presented the above resolution to then AAPOA president, Officer Carl McGill, as the organization became the first to this day, the only police organization in the United States to receive police reform recognition by a government body.
